Okay, so the other day I was trying to figure out the schedule for my niece’s volleyball games. She’s in middle school now, and it’s a whole new ballgame, you know? I wanted to be there to cheer her on, but first, I needed to know how long these games usually last.

First, I tried calling the school, but no one picked up. Classic, right? Then, I checked the school website, but it was super confusing and outdated, No help there.
My search mission
Feeling a bit defeated,I decided to do some research online.
- I started by just Googling “middle school volleyball game length.”
- Most search results all talked about best-of-five sets for older kids.
- I scrolled through a bunch of forums and finally found some parents talking about it.
- I finally got the answer.
The Answer!
It turns out, most middle school games are best-of-three sets. Each set goes to 25 points, but you gotta win by two. If they split the first two sets, the third one only goes to 15 points. Someone said that each set usually takes about 20-30 minutes,so,doing some quick math, the whole thing should be around an hour, maybe an hour and a half if it goes to three sets.
Armed with this info, I felt way more prepared. I texted my sister the estimated game length, and we planned out the whole afternoon. Snacks, drinks, the whole nine yards!.
So, yeah, that’s how I figured out the length of middle school volleyball games. Turns out, it’s not rocket science, but it definitely took a little digging!
