Okay, so yesterday I decided to spice up our usual volleyball practice with some fun games. I’ve been feeling like our drills were getting a bit stale, and the team needed a boost of energy. So, I did some digging online for “games in volleyball” to get some fresh ideas.

Brainstorming and Planning
First, I grabbed a pen and paper and jotted down all the game ideas that popped into my head. Some were variations of drills we already do, others were completely new. I wanted a good mix of skill-based games and some that were just purely for fun and team bonding.
Setting Up the Games
- Queen/King of the Court: This one is a classic. I divided the team into smaller groups and had them compete to stay on the “royal” side of the court. It’s great for practicing all-around skills and getting everyone involved.
- Target Practice: I set up some cones and targets on the court and had the players work on their serving and hitting accuracy. We made it a competition to see who could hit the most targets.
- Pepper with Variations: Pepper’s great, but it can get boring. I added some rules, like “must set with your non-dominant hand” or “bump only with your fists.” It kept my teammate on their toes!
- Volleyball Tennis: I created three zones, and played tennis rules in a volleyball game.
The Games in Action!
We kicked things off with “Queen/King of the Court.” The energy was immediately up! Everyone was diving, cheering, and competing hard. It was awesome to see. Then, we moved into “Target Practice,” which really helped us focus on our precision. The “Pepper” variations were hilarious! There were some awkward sets and bumps, but everyone was laughing and having a good time. Volleyball Tennis was so *’s so exciting when we played.
Wrapping Up
We ended the practice with a quick scrimmage, and I could already see a difference in the team’s energy and enthusiasm. The games had definitely achieved their purpose! I asked for feedback, and everyone seemed to love the change of pace. Several teammates even suggested some new game ideas for next time.
Overall, I’m super happy with how it went. Mixing things up with these games was a great way to re-energize the team and make practice more enjoyable. I’ll definitely be incorporating more games into our routine in the future. It’s a win-win – we get to work on our skills while having a blast!
