Okay, so today I decided to mess around with volleyball stuff – you know, games, drills, the whole shebang. It’s been a while since I really got into it, so I figured, why not? Here’s how it went down.

Getting Started
First things first, I needed to find a place to actually play. I don’t have a net or anything at home, so I headed over to the local park. Luckily, they have a couple of volleyball courts there. They’re not exactly professional quality, but hey, they get the job done.
I didn’t have anyone to play with, which is a bit of a bummer, but I wasn’t going to let that stop me. I brought my own volleyball, a pretty beat-up one, but it still bounces!
Solo Drills
Since I was flying solo, I started with some basic drills. Just to get a feel for the ball again.
- Bumping: I spent a good 20 minutes just bumping the ball to myself. Trying to keep it consistent, you know? My forearms were definitely feeling it after a while!
- Setting: Then I moved on to setting. This is always trickier for me. I tried to focus on getting my hands in the right position and pushing the ball up high.
- Serving: For Serve practice, it’s very simple, keep throwing the ball and get used to it.
- Spiking (sort of): Okay, this was more like “throwing the ball up and hitting it downwards.” I don’t have a net to jump over, so I just practiced the motion. It still felt pretty good to whack the ball!
Making it a “Game”
After the drills, I got a little creative. I started pretending I was playing against an imaginary opponent. I’d serve, then run to the other side of the “court” (basically just a patch of grass) and try to return the ball. It was a bit silly, running back and forth, but it was actually a decent workout!
The Realization
After about an hour of this, I was pretty tired. And sweaty. And my arms were definitely sore. But you know what? It was fun! It reminded me how much I enjoy the simple act of playing, even if it’s just by myself.
I realized that I don’t need a fancy court or a team to enjoy volleyball. All I really need is a ball and some open space. It’s a great way to get some exercise and just clear my head.

So, yeah, that was my volleyball adventure for the day. Nothing too crazy, but a good reminder that sometimes the simplest things are the most enjoyable. Might have to make this a regular thing!
