Okay, so today I decided to mess around with creating some game volleyballs. It wasn’t as straightforward as I initially thought, but hey, that’s part of the fun, right?

Getting Started
First, I needed a basic sphere. I’m not a 3D modeling expert by any means, so I just grabbed a simple sphere model I found online. It was a pretty generic one, nothing fancy.
Adding the Panels
This is where things got a little tricky. A volleyball isn’t just a smooth sphere; it has those distinct panels. I tried a few different approaches:
- First attempt: Manually placing each panel. Yeah, that was a terrible idea. Took forever and looked awful.
- Second try: I messed with some texture mapping techniques. This was better, but it still felt…flat. Not quite the look I was going for.
- Finally:Used editpoly, add lines one by one, finally It’s done!
Coloring and Texturing Details
Once I had the lines sorted, it was time for the fun part – making it look like an actual volleyball!
- Divided into three parts and gave different colors.
- Added a little bit of a rough texture, just to make it look less perfectly smooth, and make it look like a real volleyball!
The End Result
So, after all that tinkering, I ended up with a decent-looking volleyball,I think maybe next time I can try different ways and find better solutions!
