Okay, so it was the last practice of the season, and I wanted to make it super fun for the team. We’d worked hard all year, and I figured we deserved a good time. I decided to ditch the usual drills and go all-in on fun volleyball games.
Getting Started
First, I gathered the team in a circle. I explained that today was all about fun and games, no pressure, just enjoying our last time together on the court this season. Everyone seemed pretty stoked about that!
The Games Begin!
- Chaos Volleyball: First up, we played a game I like to call “Chaos Volleyball.” Basically, it’s regular volleyball, but with, like, three balls in play at once. It was absolute madness! Balls flying everywhere, people diving and laughing. It was hilarious and a great way to get everyone warmed up and loosened up.
- Target Practice:Next,I set a target on the * player takes truns to hit the target to gain points for the team.
- Team Relay Races: Then, I split the team into two groups for some relay races. We did some classic ones, like running to the net and back, but I also threw in some volleyball-specific ones. One race involved setting the ball to yourself while shuffling down the court. Another one had players passing the ball back and forth while running. It was a good mix of silly and skill-based.
- King/Queen of the Court: We finished off with a few rounds of “King/Queen of the Court.” This is always a favorite. Two teams, one on each side of the net, and they just battle it out. The winning team stays on, the losing team rotates off, and a new team comes on. It’s competitive, but still really fun, and everyone gets a chance to play.
Wrap-up and Success!
After about an hour and a half of non-stop games, everyone was exhausted but smiling. We had a quick team huddle, shared some laughs about the crazy moments during the games, and that was it. Mission accomplished! The last practice was a blast, and I think everyone left feeling good about the season and our team.
I think it is successful and I’m happy with it.
