Today, I decided to check out this “Favela Sport” thing I’ve been hearing about. It sounds pretty cool, so I figured, why not give it a shot?

Getting Started
First, I did some digging online to see what it was all about. Seemed like a mix of different sports, played in a more casual, street-style way. I found a few videos of people playing, and it looked like a lot of fun – super energetic and improvisational.
Finding a Game
Next, I needed to find a place to actually play. I looked around for local groups or meetups, asked some friends if they knew anything, and even checked out a few parks where people might be playing pickup games.
First Try
I went to a sport, and found people playing some sport. I watched them for a bit, trying to get a feel for the rules and how it all worked.
Jumping In
After watching for a while, I decided to jump in and give it a try.I introduced myself and asked if I could join * happily accepted.
Playing
- It started out a bit rough. I was clumsy, fumbled the ball a few times, and definitely wasn’t up to speed. It was fast-paced and I felt a bit lost at first.
- But, the other players were super encouraging. They gave me tips, cheered me on, and made me feel welcome, even though I was clearly a beginner.
- Slowly, I started to get the hang of it. I managed to make a few decent plays, and even though I was still making mistakes, I was having a blast. The energy was infectious, and it felt great to be moving and playing.
Wrap Up
By the end, I was exhausted but totally pumped. It was way more fun than I expected. I’m definitely going to try and play more often. It’s a great workout, and the people are awesome. I can see why this “Favela Sport” thing is catching on.
