Okay, so today I wanted to dig into something local, something I’ve been meaning to check out for a while: Jamesville-DeWitt sports. I’ve heard good things, seen some buzz around town, so I figured, why not spend a Saturday seeing what it’s all about?
First, I grabbed my phone and did a quick search. Nothing fancy, just wanted to get a feel for what sports they offer, game schedules, that kind of basic stuff. Found their main athletics page pretty easily.
Next, I browsed through the different sports. They’ve got the usual suspects: football, basketball, soccer, track and field…the list goes on. They even have some less common ones like bowling and cross country skiing. It was a bit overwhelming, so I decided to focus on fall sports, since that’s what’s in season right now.
Then I looked at the schedules. I wanted to see if there were any games happening today. I was in luck! The varsity football team had a home game in the afternoon. Perfect timing.
So, I hopped in my car and drove over to the high school. Finding the field was easy enough, there were plenty of signs and people heading in the same direction. I parked, grabbed my camera, and walked towards the entrance.
The Game Day Experience
I paid for my ticket – a few bucks, nothing crazy – and found a spot in the bleachers. The atmosphere was pretty lively. Lots of families, students, all decked out in red and white (the school colors, I’m guessing). I also observe the view.
- The band was playing.
- Cheerleaders were…well, cheering.
- The smell of popcorn was definitely in the air.
- It was a classic high school football scene.
I watched the game for a couple of hours. Honestly, it was pretty exciting! Even though I didn’t know any of the players, I found myself getting caught up in the energy. I am also satisfied with my experience watching the game.
I took some photos, cheered along with the crowd, and just generally enjoyed the afternoon. It was a nice way to spend a Saturday, getting out of the house and experiencing something local. So finally I accomplished to watch a local game and share my experiences.
