So, I decided to spice things up in my chat group today. The usual memes and jokes were getting a bit stale, so I thought, “Why not try something different?” I had this idea of creating a fun little game within the group itself – no external apps or websites, just pure chat-based entertainment.

First, I brainstormed some ideas. I wanted something that everyone could easily participate in, regardless of their tech skills or the type of phone they had. Simple text-based games seemed like the best bet.
I settled on a “guess the movie” game. The rules were simple:
- I’d post a series of emojis representing a movie title.
- Group members would try to guess the movie.
- The first one to guess correctly would get bragging rights (and maybe a virtual cookie).
Next, I spent some time picking out movies and finding the right emojis. This was actually harder than I thought! Trying to condense entire movie plots into a handful of tiny pictures was a real challenge. I used an emoji keyboard on my phone and browsed through all the categories to find the best * took time but, finally found some.
Then came the fun part – posting the emoji puzzles in the group chat. I spaced them out a bit, giving people time to guess before dropping the next one. The reactions were great! People were throwing out guesses left and right, some hilarious, some surprisingly close. It was awesome to see everyone so engaged and having fun.
It can say, that I observed how everyone get involved and enjoyed * made me want to do something like this again.
I kept the game going for about an hour, and by the end, everyone was buzzing. The chat was way more active than usual, and there was a real sense of camaraderie. Mission accomplished!

Lessons Learned
- Simple ideas can be the most effective.
- Emoji interpretation is surprisingly subjective.
- People love a good guessing game!
Overall, it was a successful experiment. It definitely injected some much-needed fun into the group, and I’m already thinking about what kind of chat-based game I can cook up next. Maybe a “guess the song” using only emojis, or perhaps a text-based adventure game… the possibilities are endless!
