Okay, so today I wanted to try something different. I’ve been seeing all these “made sport” videos, and I figured, why not give it a shot? It’s all about taking everyday objects and turning them into a sport, right? So, I grabbed a few things from around the house and got started.
Preparation is Key
First, I needed to gather my materials. I decided to keep it simple. I found:
- An old cardboard box (medium-sized, pretty sturdy)
- Some ping pong balls
- A couple of plastic cups
- A roll of masking tape
I cleared out a space in my living room. Made sure I would not kick a chair while playing it. Safety first, you know?
Setting Up the “Arena”
I used the masking tape to create a line on the floor, about 6 feet away from where I planned to place the box. This would be my “serving line,” I guess. Then, I placed the cardboard box on its side, opening facing me. This was going to be my “goal.” The plastic cups? I set them up inside the box, like little targets.
The Game: Box Ball!
So, the basic idea I came up with was this: You stand behind the line and try to bounce the ping pong balls into the box. If a ball lands in a cup, you get extra points. Sounds easy, right? Wrong!
I started by just trying to get the balls into the box. The cardboard was surprisingly bouncy, and the balls kept flying everywhere. I spent a good 10 minutes just chasing them around. Then, I tried to refine my technique. I started bouncing the balls lower, trying to get a bit of spin on them. It took a while, but I finally managed to get a few into the box.
Next, I focused on the cups. This was way harder. I had to adjust my aim, the angle of the bounce, everything. I missed a lot. I mean, A LOT. But after about 20 minutes of solid trying, I sunk one! It felt ridiculously satisfying.

The Aftermath (and Lessons Learned)
After about an hour, I was actually sweating. Who knew bouncing ping pong balls could be a workout? I ended up with a score of, well, let’s just say it wasn’t very high. But I had fun! My “made sport” wasn’t exactly Olympic-level, but it was a good way to kill some time and get a little exercise.
Next time, I might try using different sized boxes, or maybe even adding some obstacles. The possibilities are endless, really. It’s all about getting creative and just going for it. Now there is a game which called Box Ball, and I think I can make more game rules for it.
