Okay, so today was all about getting that “beach volleyball summer games” vibe going. I’ve been wanting to set up a casual volleyball game with friends for ages, and summer’s the perfect time.

Planning & Prep
First things first, I made a group chat. Nothing fancy, just a quick way to get everyone on the same page. I threw out a few dates and times, and we landed on this Saturday afternoon. Perfect!
Next, I dug out my old volleyball net from the garage. It was a bit dusty, but after a quick wipe-down, it looked good as new. I also made sure I had a volleyball, and a pump, and the lines to mark the area.
- Checked the weather forecast (sunny with a slight breeze, yay!).
- Picked a spot on the beach that’s usually not too crowded.
Setting Up
I got to the beach a little early to set up. Setting up the net was pretty easy. It took about 20 minutes to secure the net, making sure everything was tight and the net was at the right height.
Then I used the lines and its stakes to mark the area. I guess it is good enough for us!
Game Time!
My friends started arriving, and we quickly divided into teams. We weren’t super strict about it – just wanted to have some fun. We played for a good couple of hours, with lots of laughs, some epic dives (mostly into the sand), and, of course, a few friendly arguments about whether the ball was in or out.
We took breaks to cool off in the water and rehydrate. Someone brought a cooler with drinks and snacks, which was a lifesaver.
Wrapping Up
As the sun started to set, we decided to call it a day. We took down the net and packed up everything.
Everyone was pretty tired but in a good way. It was exactly the kind of chill, fun summer day I was hoping for. Definitely planning on doing this again soon!
