Okay, so, I just finished up with this whole beach ball volleyball game thing, and let me tell you, it was quite the adventure. It all started when I got this idea to put together a volleyball game using just a beach ball. I figured it would be a fun, goofy twist on the classic game. I grabbed a big, colorful beach ball from my garage – you know, the kind that’s almost as big as a kid? That was my starting point.
Getting the ball rolling
First off, I needed to find a net. I didn’t have a volleyball net lying around, so I got creative. I took two old broomsticks and stuck them into the ground. Then, I draped an old bedsheet over them. Voila! Instant makeshift net. It wasn’t pretty, but it did the job. Next, I needed players. I called up a bunch of my friends. Thankfully, they were all up for a bit of silly fun. We gathered at my local park, which had a nice, flat grassy area perfect for our game.
Setting the rules
We spent a good chunk of time just figuring out the rules. How many hits per side? How do you even serve a beach ball? We decided on three hits max per side, just like regular volleyball. Serving, though, that was a whole other story. We ended up just throwing the ball over the net to start each point. We tried a few different serving methods, but let’s just say they didn’t go so well.
- Figured out the net situation – check.
- Rounded up some willing participants – check.
- Established some basic rules – check.
The game begins
We divided into two teams and started playing. It was hilarious. The beach ball floated all over the place, and the wind kept messing with its trajectory. We were all over the place, diving and jumping, trying to keep that giant ball in play. The bedsheet net sagged a bit in the middle, which added an extra level of challenge. We had to hit the ball pretty high to clear it. It was a real workout, I’ll tell you that.
It’s all about the laughs
We played for about an hour, maybe two. I lost track of time because we were laughing so much. I think we spent more time chasing the ball than actually playing. And you know what? Nobody cared about the score. It wasn’t about winning or losing, it was just about having a good time. We took some breaks here and there to catch our breath and wipe the sweat off our foreheads. The sun was beating down on us, but we were having too much fun to stop.
Wrapping it up
Finally, we decided to call it a day. My legs were like jelly, and my friends were all pretty beat too. We took down our makeshift net, packed up the beach ball, and headed home. My abs hurt from laughing so much, and my cheeks were sore from smiling. It was definitely one of the most memorable afternoons I’ve had in a while. I highly recommend giving beach ball volleyball a try. Just don’t expect a serious game, and be prepared to look a little silly. It’s all in good fun!
