Okay, so I’ve been getting into collecting signed stuff, especially sports memorabilia. I recently got my hands on a football signed by a Kansas City Chiefs guard, and I got curious about how much it might actually be worth. It was a bit of a journey, let me tell you!

First, I grabbed the football and examined the signature closely. I tried to decipher the name. It was a bit messy, you know how these athletes’ signatures can be. I compared it to some pictures of Chiefs players online, browsing team rosters and stuff, trying to match the scribbles.
Then, I dove into some online forums and collector websites. Looked for similar items, you know, footballs signed by other offensive linemen, specifically guards. It was a bit of a maze, to be honest. Lots of different opinions and price ranges.
I also checked out a few online auction sites. I searched using different keywords, playing around with the player’s name (once I finally figured it out!), the team name, and the type of football. There are tons of listings, some with bids, some without. I jotted down some notes about the prices I saw, trying to get a general idea. I made a list of these:
- Similar football with signature: $50
- Another one, slightly better condition: $75
- One with a certificate of authenticity: $120
I learned that condition matters a lot. My football has a few scuffs, so I knew it wouldn’t be top dollar. I also found out that having a certificate of authenticity can really boost the value, and I didn’t have one of those at the time. But now, I had the knowledge about how to get one and how much value it will add to my item.
After all that digging, I realized the value isn’t set in stone. It really depends on who’s buying and how much they’re willing to pay. Based on what I found, I figured my signed football is probably worth somewhere in the $50-$100 range, maybe a bit more if I got it authenticated.
Ultimately, I decided to hold onto it for now. It’s a cool piece of memorabilia, and I’m a Chiefs fan. Maybe I’ll get it authenticated sometime and see if the value goes up. But for now, it’s a fun conversation starter in my collection! This whole process taught me a lot. It’s not just about the money, but also the fun of the research and learning about the player and the team’s history. It is really a fun adventure!
