So, the other day, we had this idea to set up an across-pool volleyball game. It sounded like a blast, mixing up the usual pool day with some friendly competition. We figured, why not give it a shot?

First off, we needed a net. Not having a volleyball net designed for a pool, we got creative. We grabbed a long rope and some weights, you know, the kind you use for workouts. We tied the weights to each end of the rope to keep it from just floating around. It wasn’t pretty, but it worked.
Setting Up
Next up, we had to secure the “net” across the pool. We picked two sturdy spots on opposite sides of the pool, like the ladder and a strong pool railing. It took some adjusting, but we managed to get the rope stretched across at a decent height. It wasn’t regulation height, more like a “let’s just have fun” height.
Dividing the teams was easy since it was just a casual get-together with friends and family. We didn’t bother with strict rules; we just wanted to hit the ball back and forth and have a laugh. Some of us were more into it than others, diving and splashing, while some just enjoyed the casual volley from the shallow end.
Playing the Game
The game itself was hilarious. The ball kept getting wet, making it heavier and harder to control. Every serve was an adventure, and every point scored was celebrated with big splashes and cheers. We lost track of the score, not that it mattered. The goal was to keep the ball in play, which was challenging and fun in its own right.
- Lots of laughs
- Wet ball = heavy ball
- Splash celebrations
- No real score-keeping
After a while, we were all pretty tired but in good spirits. We decided to call it a day on the volleyball and just relax in the pool. We were talking about the game, sharing the funny moments, and already planning the next one.
In the end, our across-pool volleyball game turned out to be a total success. It wasn’t about winning or losing but about trying something new and having a great time together. It’s definitely going down as one of those memorable summer days, and we’re already thinking about how to make it even better next time.
