Okay, so I’ve been meaning to trick out my Pajero Sport for a while now, and I finally took the plunge. Let me tell you, it’s been a journey, a real do-it-yourself adventure. I’m no mechanic, but I’m pretty handy, and I love getting my hands dirty.
First off, I started with some research. You know, browsing forums, watching videos, that sort of thing. I wanted to get a feel for what other people were doing with their Pajero Sports and what accessories were out there. There’s a ton of stuff, believe me, from roof racks to bull bars to fancy seat covers.
After I had a decent idea of what I wanted, I began shopping around. I checked out a few different places, both online and some local stores. It’s a bit of a mixed bag out there, price-wise and quality-wise. You gotta be careful, you know? Don’t want to end up with some cheap junk that’s gonna fall apart on you.
I decided to start simple. I picked up a set of floor mats and a cargo liner. Figured those were practical and wouldn’t be too hard to install myself. And they weren’t! A little bit of wiggling and they were in. Felt pretty good about that, like a mini-victory.
Next, I moved on to the exterior. I ordered a set of side steps. These were a bit trickier. They came with instructions, thankfully, but it still took some time and effort to get them bolted on. Had to get under the car and everything. Let me tell you, laying on the ground under a car is not the most comfortable position. But I managed to get them on, and they look great. Plus, they make it way easier to get in and out of the car.
The Real Fun Begins
Then came the roof rack. That was a whole different beast. I opted for a pretty heavy-duty one, because I want to be able to carry some gear up there. This one was definitely a two-person job. Luckily, my buddy was willing to lend a hand. We spent a good chunk of a Saturday afternoon getting that thing mounted. We followed the instructions very carefully, step by step. I think it took us almost four hours in total to get everything well done.
The final touch was a set of new seat covers. These were custom-made for the Pajero Sport, so they fit like a glove. Putting them on was a bit of a workout, I’ll admit. Lots of stretching and pulling. But they transformed the interior, man. It looks so much nicer now.
So, there you have it. That’s my Pajero Sport accessory adventure so far. It’s been a lot of work, but I’m really happy with how it’s turned out. And I learned a lot along the way. I’m not afraid to tackle these kinds of projects anymore. Next up, maybe a snorkel? We’ll see.
- Started with research – forums, videos, etc.
- Shopped around – online and local stores
- Installed floor mats and cargo liner – easy peasy
- Added side steps – a bit more challenging
- Mounted a roof rack – needed a friend’s help
- Put on new seat covers – transformed the interior
Hope you enjoyed my little story. It’s not perfect but I had fun with it. If you’re thinking about adding some accessories to your ride, I say go for it! Just be prepared to put in some elbow grease.
