Okay, so, I gotta tell you about this dance competition I did – “That’s Entertainment”. It was a wild ride, let me tell you. I saw an ad for it, and I thought, “Why not? Let’s give it a shot.” I’ve always loved dancing, but I’d never really done a proper competition before. So, I signed up, not really knowing what I was getting myself into.

First thing I did was find a routine. I spent hours watching videos online, trying to find something that felt like ‘me’. I finally found one that was pretty cool, a nice mix of hip-hop and contemporary, which is totally my style. I started practicing like crazy. I mean, every day, I was in my living room, moving furniture around, trying to get the moves down.
Then came the costume. Oh boy, the costume. I wanted something that would stand out, but also something I felt comfortable in. I ended up going to a bunch of stores, trying on a million different things. Finally, I found this sparkly outfit that was just perfect. It was a bit flashy, but hey, it’s a dance competition, right? Gotta shine!
Practice, practice, practice. That’s all I did for weeks. I’d run through the routine over and over, trying to get every step, every move just right. I even got some friends to watch me and give me feedback. They were super supportive, even when I messed up (which was a lot at first, not gonna lie).
The day of the competition finally arrived. I was so nervous, I thought I was going to be sick. I got to the venue, and there were so many people, all these amazing dancers. I started to doubt myself, wondering if I was good enough to be there. But I tried to push those thoughts away. I was there, I had my costume on, and I was ready to dance.
Waiting for my turn felt like forever. I watched some of the other dancers, and they were incredible. But I kept telling myself, “Just do your best, that’s all you can do.”
Finally, it was my turn. I walked onto the stage, the music started, and I just danced. I gave it my all, every move, every step. I poured my heart and soul into that performance. And you know what? It felt amazing. I forgot about the nerves, the judges, everything. I was just in the moment, doing what I loved.

When the music stopped, I was out of breath but so happy. I’d done it. I’d performed in a real dance competition. I didn’t win, but honestly, that didn’t even matter. I felt like I’d won just by being there, by pushing myself out of my comfort zone and doing something I’d always wanted to do.
So, yeah, that’s my story about the “That’s Entertainment” dance competition. It was tough, it was nerve-wracking, but it was also one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. It taught me that it’s okay to be scared, but you shouldn’t let that stop you from going after what you want. And that sometimes, the best things in life happen when you step outside of your comfort zone and just go for it.
What I learned:
- Stepping outside of my comfort zone: Seriously, I can’t believe I actually signed up.
- Practice makes perfect: This was tiring but seeing the progress was really something.
- Enjoy the process: Even though I was nervous, I really enjoyed the whole journey.
Would I do it again? Heck yeah! Maybe with a bit more confidence next time, though.
