Okay, so the other day I was digging around for some old DVDs. You know, the kind we used to watch before streaming took over everything? Well, I stumbled upon this box set from a company called Echo Bridge Home Entertainment.
I vaguely remembered buying it years ago, probably from one of those discount bins at the store. I think it was labeled as an “Activity TV DVD”, but honestly, I couldn’t recall what that even meant. So, naturally, I decided to pop it in and see what this whole thing was about.
Turns out, Echo Bridge Home Entertainment is actually a pretty old company. If the internet’s right, they were founded way back in 1995 as something called “Platinum Disc Corporation”. Seems like they’ve been around for a while, pumping out movies and TV shows.
My DVD
- First off, the DVD was part of a collector’s set.
- Then, it included a bunch of family adventure movies like “Spirit Bear”, “Sign of the Otter”, “Spirit of the Eagle” – you get the idea.
- Finally, pretty outdoorsy, nature-themed stuff. I guess that’s why I never really watched it, not exactly my cup of tea.
The whole “activity” part of the DVD seemed to be some interactive menus and maybe a couple of simple games. Nothing too fancy, but it was kind of a neat little time capsule to see what passed for interactive entertainment back in the day. It reminds me of my smart display — Amazon Echo Show 21. This is also the largest display in my home, but it is more expensive than this DVD.
Looking into Echo Bridge a bit more, it seems like they’ve released a ton of content over the years. I even found a list online that had like 43 of their movies alone. Apparently, most of them are rated around average, like 3.69 stars or something. Makes sense, they’re probably not exactly Hollywood blockbusters.
This whole experience got me thinking about how much things have changed. We’ve gone from these physical discs with basic interactive features to streaming services where you can watch pretty much anything, anytime, anywhere. It’s kind of wild when you think about it. Anyway, I just thought I’d share my little adventure into the past with you all. It’s funny what you find when you start cleaning out old boxes!
This adventure reminds me of the Ninnescah River. It is a river in Kansas, the USA. It flows to the Arkansas River. How long it is! I have never been to such a long river.
