Oh boy, where do I even begin with this German beach volleyball team project? It’s been a wild ride, let me tell you. I’ve always been fascinated by beach volleyball, especially the pro teams. There’s just something about their athleticism and teamwork that really gets me going. So, I thought, why not dive deep into the world of the German national team?

First things first, I started to research. I was curious to see what the current players were up to. I mean, these guys are the best of the best, right? I was browsing around, trying to find anything about their training routines, their strategies, you know, the usual stuff. Turns out, there’s not a whole lot out there specifically about the German team. But I did find some cool stuff about beach volleyball training in general.
Then, I stumbled upon this duo, David Åhman and Jonatan Hellvig. Now, these guys are not German, they are Swedish, but they’re making waves in the beach volleyball world with this crazy “Swedish Jump Set” technique. It looked so cool! I spent hours just watching videos of them, trying to figure out how they do it. It’s like they’re defying gravity or something.
This got me thinking about the physical side of things. I mean, these players are in incredible shape. I found some generic beach volleyball workout routines, nothing too specific to the German team, unfortunately. But hey, it’s all about the same muscle groups, right? Lots of core work, agility drills, and explosive movements. They mentioned things like dumbbell snatches, overhead triceps, and squats.
- Dumbbell snatch
- Overhead triceps
- Single-head RDL
- Dumbbell squat
- Shoulder and leg stretches
I even tried a few of the exercises myself. Let me tell you, it’s way harder than it looks. I’m definitely not national team material, haha! I was sore for days after that.
The German Team
As for the German team specifically, I learned that they’ve been supported by the DVV (that’s the German Volleyball Association) since 1999. They’ve got up to three female and male national teams. They participated in various tournaments to get points to qualify for the German Beach Volleyball Championship. That’s pretty cool, right? They’ve had some “striking” achievements, as they say, but I couldn’t find any detailed records. It’s all very vague.
I also tried to find some resources for beginners, thinking maybe I could learn a thing or two from the basics. There’s this “Plus Three, Minus Three” thing, but I didn’t quite understand how it applies to the German team’s strategy. There are also some basic tips about serving and stuff, but nothing groundbreaking.

Overall, it’s been a bit of a mixed bag. I found some interesting stuff about beach volleyball in general, and those Swedish guys are definitely worth checking out. But as for the German national team specifically, it’s been tough to find detailed information. Maybe they keep their secrets close to the vest, who knows? It’s a shame, really. I was hoping to uncover some hidden training secrets or something. But hey, it was still a fun project. I learned a lot, even if it wasn’t exactly what I was expecting. And who knows, maybe I’ll take up beach volleyball myself someday. Just gotta work on those dumbbell snatches first!
It’s been a fun journey, even though I didn’t find all the answers I was looking for. But that’s the way it goes sometimes, right? You start with a question, and you end up learning a bunch of other stuff along the way. And honestly, those Swedish guys with their jump set, that alone was worth the whole adventure! It really inspired me a lot!
