Yesterday, my nephew came over, and he was, like, totally bored. He’s at that age, you know, a teenager, full of energy, but nothing to do. So I thought, “Okay, let’s find something fun for him.” First, I tried to get him to come with me for a bike ride, but man, he just made a face and said “It is too hot”.
So, plan B. I remembered there are some museums nearby. We hopped in the car and visited an art gallery. It was pretty cool, honestly, some of the modern art pieces were kinda wild. He seemed to like it okay, took a few pictures with his phone, but I could tell he wasn’t super thrilled.
After that, it hit me – K-pop! This kid loves those K-pop bands. I know nothing about them, but there’s this Korean culture thing going on everywhere now, right? I mean, you see it on TV, those shows like Squid Game, and those bands like BTS or Blackpink, that’s what he likes.
So I searched for something like that nearby, and guess what? We ended up at Lotte World. I had no idea it was this huge indoor theme park thing, and it even has an arcade, like, a massive one.
We went in, and bam! He was in his element. Lights, sounds, games everywhere, all that K-pop stuff blasting from the speakers. He was running around like crazy, playing all the games, totally forgot I was even there.
It was funny, really, seeing him so into it. I even tried a few games myself, but man, those teenagers are fast. No chance I could keep up.
- First step, tried the bike thing, but it did not work.
- Then, went to a museum, it was kinda boring for him.
- Tried Lotte World, which turned out to be a great success!
My Conclusion
So, yeah, that was my adventure finding entertainment for my teenage nephew. Turns out, those K-pop kids really love their arcades and theme parks. Who knew? Might not be my cup of tea, but hey, seeing him that happy was worth it. Plus, I learned a bit about K-pop, I guess. Maybe next time I’ll even know some of the songs.
