Okay, so, I’ve been getting really into volleyball lately, especially the Brazilian men’s team. They’re just so good! I mean, they’ve won the most titles overall. So I decided I wanted to up my own volleyball game, and I figured, who better to learn from than the best, right?

Starting Out
First, I spent some time just watching videos of the Brazilian team. I focused on their matches, how they moved, how they communicated. It’s amazing to see how in sync they are. Then I dove into some articles about them. Did you know they’re often just called “the Brazilians”? I guess when you’re that good, you don’t need much introduction! I also read up on some of their star players – they’ve had some real legends over the years.
Getting Practical
Then came the practical part. I knew I couldn’t just jump in and expect to play like them, so I started with the basics, just like some guides online suggested. They said it is important to start with the solid basics in underarm receiving/digging and then practice overhand reception. So, I practiced my underarm passing, or “digging,” over and over again. I focused on my footwork, trying to get my feet in the right position every time. It was tough! I had a friend hit balls at me, and let me tell you, my forearms were sore the next day. I also did some overhand passing drills. This was a little easier, but still challenging to get the ball exactly where I wanted it to go.
Moving On
- Next, I started working on my serving. Man, those guys on the Brazilian team can really make the ball fly! I tried to copy their technique, but it’s harder than it looks. I need to work on getting more power and accuracy.
- After serving, I moved on to setting. This is where you kind of bump the ball up in the air for your teammate to spike. I practiced setting to a spot on the wall, trying to get the ball to hit the same place every time. I think I are getting better, but I still need a lot more practice to become a great setter.
- Then there’s the fun part – spiking! I set up a net in my backyard and practiced hitting the ball over it. It’s so satisfying when you get a good, clean hit. I am still trying to learn how to add more power and aim my hits better, just like those amazing Brazilian players.
- The last thing I started practicing was blocking. I had my friend hit balls at me while I jumped up at the net and tried to block them. It’s all about timing and getting your hands in the right position. I am still trying to learn how to block more effectively.
It’s been a lot of work, but it’s been fun too. I’m definitely not at the level of the Brazilian men’s team, not even close! But I feel like I’m making progress. And who knows, maybe one day I’ll be able to play in a real game and feel like one of the greats, even if it’s just for a moment. I will keep practicing and maybe one day I can play just like them!
