So, I was trying to figure out what to do this weekend, you know, the usual. I live in Parkersburg, WV, and sometimes it feels like there’s nothing going on. But I was determined to find something fun. I started by good old Google search, typing in “entertainment Parkersburg WV”.

The first few results were the typical stuff, you know, event listings and all that. I saw a couple of phrases like “Find events happening today in Parkersburg” and “Discover the best things to do this weekend in Parkersburg”. It got me thinking, maybe there’s more to this town than I thought.
I dug a little deeper. I started looking at specific events, not just general listings. There were some mentions of comedy shows, art exhibits, and even some food festivals. “Find out what’s on in Parkersburg, There are countless events in Parkersburg from genres like comedy, art,” one site said. It made me realize that I probably wasn’t looking in the right places before.
- First, I checked out a local community center’s website.
- Then, I looked at the websites of a few theaters in town.
- I even browsed through some local Facebook groups.
I stumbled upon this one site that said, “Don’t know what to do in Parkersburg, WV? Take advantage of your next visit to Parkersburg by checking out the best things to do: tours, music, theater, exhibitions.” It was like a light bulb went off! I mean, we have the New River Gorge National Park and Preserve nearby, which is awesome. I’ve been there a few times, but I always forget about the smaller, local things.
I found a bunch of things happening this weekend, like a small music festival at a local park and an art walk downtown. I was particularly interested in the phrase I found: “Discover festivals happening this weekend in Parkersburg, WV. Explore a variety of events.” This phrase made me excited to find something to do.
My Weekend Plans
I decided to check out the art walk first. I’ve always liked art, and it seemed like a good way to spend a Saturday afternoon. Also, it said “Residents can visit Fort Boreman, a historic archaeological site encompassing a Civil War fortification.” I made a mental note to go visit that soon, too. I ended up having a great time. I saw some amazing local art, and I even bought a small painting. After that, I went to the music festival, which was a lot of fun too. I got to hear some great local bands, and the atmosphere was really chill.
All in all, it was a pretty good weekend. It just goes to show that sometimes you have to look a little harder to find the good stuff. I’m definitely going to be more proactive about finding things to do in Parkersburg from now on.
