Hey everyone, it’s your boy back again with another project. I’ve been messing around with this Rossi Sport UP 5.5, and let me tell you, it’s been a ride.
So, I got my hands on this air rifle a few weeks ago. I’d heard some buzz about Rossi firearms – you know, good quality, not too hard on the wallet. This one’s a single-shot break-barrel type, pretty straightforward. The stock is this polymer thing, feels alright in hand, with an ambidextrous grip which is good for everyone. It has a Monte Carlo textured cheek rest, which I found that is really comfortable for me. And it’s got a rubber buttpad, which is a nice touch for comfort.
- First thing I did was take it out to the backyard. Set up some targets, you know, the usual cans and stuff. It’s got this dovetail rail, 11mm, with a scope stop, which seemed decent. I did not put a scope on it yet, just wanted to see how it handled out of the box.
Loading it up was a breeze. Break the barrel, pop in a pellet, and you’re good to go. Now, I’ve seen some specs floating around online, saying this thing’s been upgraded. They’re saying it’s shooting at around 195 m/s now, up from 150 m/s. Honestly, it felt pretty powerful. Not sure about the exact numbers, but it was definitely packing a punch.
- Spent a good few hours just plinking away. The trigger’s decent, not too heavy, not too light. Accuracy-wise, I was hitting what I aimed at, most of the time, anyway. I guess I still have that touch!
I saw online they are saying it has around 16 joules of muzzle power. It sounds cool to me, but I have no way to test it now, maybe later I will do that. I also saw that it can add flashlights or some other optical sights on it. I think that could be nice to have in the future.
Next steps for me? I’m thinking of slapping a scope on this bad boy. See what kind of accuracy I can really get out of it. Maybe do some longer-range shooting, see how it holds up.
Wrap Up
So far, I’m pretty impressed with the Rossi Sport UP 5.5. It’s a solid, reliable air rifle. If you’re looking for something that won’t break the bank but still delivers on performance, this might be the one for you. I’ll keep you guys posted on how it goes with the scope and all that. Until then, happy shooting!
