Okay, here’s my experience about volleyball game in Daytona Beach:
So, I’ve always been a huge fan of volleyball, but I’ve never really gotten the chance to play it on the beach. It just seemed like one of those things you see in movies, you know? Anyways, I finally got to do it in Daytona Beach, and let me tell you, it was an experience.
First off, I started looking for places to play. I found a couple of spots on Yelp – The REC and this other place called Atom Performance Volleyball looked pretty legit. There’s also ClearOne Sports Centre, Volusia Sports Center and Merrill Park. But I also saw some people talking about meetups for beach volleyball, which sounded pretty cool. They mentioned about specific skill levels and social mixers. I mean, who wouldn’t want to meet new people while playing a sport you love, right?
Then, I realized I needed to get myself in shape. I’m not exactly what you’d call “athletic,” so I started doing some basic stretches. I found this old book, “Stretching: 40th Anniversary Edition” by someone named Anderson, in my attic, and it actually had some pretty helpful stuff in it. I spent a few days just trying to limber up, because let’s be honest, I didn’t want to pull a muscle on my first day.
When the day finally came, I found a group that was meeting at City Island Park, which I think is on Orange Ave. It was a bit nerve-wracking at first, not knowing anyone, but everyone was super friendly. They welcomed me into the group. There were people of all skill levels, from beginners like me to some folks who looked like they could go pro. We spent a good couple of hours playing, and even though I was pretty terrible at it, I had a blast.
Here are some places I played and people met:
- The REC: This place is awesome. Indoor courts, which was great because it rained one day. Met a cool dude named Mike there who gave me some pointers on serving.
- Bicentennial Park: Played a few pickup games here. It’s a nice park, and there were always people around playing volleyball. Also met a girl named Sarah who’s apparently a regular.
- Daytona Beach: Of course, I had to play on the actual beach! It was a bit tougher because of the sand, but the view was amazing. The sunset games were the best.
- Mary McLeod Bethune Beach Park: This is also a great option.
Overall, it was an awesome experience. I met some really cool people, got some exercise, and finally got to play beach volleyball. If you’re ever in Daytona Beach and you’re looking for something fun to do, definitely check out the volleyball scene. You won’t regret it! I’ll definitely be back again.
