Today I wanted to do something a little different, and I gotta say, it got pretty intense. I’ve always been a huge volleyball fan, right? So, I thought, why not try to figure out what the highest scoring volleyball game ever was? Sounds simple enough, but let me tell you, it turned into a whole thing.
First off, I hit up the internet, just browsing around, you know, like you do. I stumbled upon some cool facts. For instance, did you know that Karch Kiraly is basically the king of volleyball? This guy has won at everything, both playing and coaching. He was a big deal at UCLA, helping them win three NCAA championships. That’s wild!
Then I found out about this insane game in the Netherlands that lasted over 85 hours. 85 hours! Can you believe that? I can barely last 85 minutes on the court without needing a break.
Digging Deeper
So, I kept digging. I learned that in NCAA volleyball, a team needs to win three out of five sets to win the match. Each set goes up to 25 points, and you gotta win by at least two points. Sometimes, they even need a fifth set to decide the winner.
Now, here’s where it got really interesting. I came across this website, “WorldofVolley,” I think it was, working with “Inside Volleycountry.” They had some good stuff, but it wasn’t quite what I was looking for. I was on a mission to find the highest scoring game, just for kicks, you know? Pure enjoyment.
The Real Deal
I kept searching, and I finally found something about a game between some Bobcats and Quinnipiac, or something like that. It was a 32-30 battle! Can you imagine the tension? It was the fourth set, and it decided the whole match. It was just nuts! Volleyball is all about that fast action and those crazy rallies, and this game sounded like it was the peak of all that.
- Started with some casual browsing.
- Found out some cool facts about Karch Kiraly and a super long game.
- Learned about how NCAA volleyball matches work.
- Got excited about finding a 32-30 set that decided a match.
So, yeah, that’s what I did today. It was a bit of a rabbit hole, but a fun one. I didn’t set out to do anything groundbreaking, just wanted to find some cool volleyball info, and I definitely did. It’s crazy how intense these games can get!
