This here, it’s about that Flex Football. My grandson, he plays it. Says it’s good, keeps him busy. Ain’t like that regular football where they smash into each other real hard. This one’s a little different. Not as rough, you know?
They got these rules, lots of ’em. Like a whole book full. Sayin’ this and that, how you gotta play. Keeps things straight, I reckon. This Flex Football, it’s for them young’uns, boys and girls. Start ’em young, they say. Get ’em used to the game ‘fore they get all big and strong.
-
They say Flex Football is good for building up the kids, you know, makin’ them stronger and quicker on their feet.
-
And they wear these soft helmets, not like them hard ones that can crack your skull. And shoulder pads too. Keep ’em safe, I guess.
-
There was this time when little Bobby fell, and I thought, “Oh lord, there he goes.” But he bounced right back up. Them pads, they did their job.
They got 9 on each side, not 11 like the big leagues. Less folks, less chance of gettin’ all tangled up, I suppose. Still gotta run and throw that ball, though. Try to get it down the field. That’s how you score, gettin’ that ball across the line. They call it the end zone. Sounds fancy, don’t it?
This Flex Football, they designed it, made it up. NFL players, the big shots, they’re behind it. Say it’s like how they practice. Keeps ’em in shape without all the bangin’ around. They say it’s good for everyone, not just them pros.
The field, well, it ain’t as big as the regular one. They start the ball at the 45-yard line. Don’t ask me what that means, just know it’s somewhere in the middle. And they go towards the end zone, that’s where they gotta get the ball to score. If someone catches the ball, they gotta run it back to the 45, and that’s a touchdown. A whole lot of running, I tell ya. They play for two halves, 45 minutes each. That’s a long time, but the kids, they seem to have the energy for it.
There was this one time, my grandson’s team, they were playin’, and they were doin’ real good. He caught the ball, and he ran like the wind. Made it all the way to the end zone. I was so proud, I nearly busted a button on my blouse. He’s a good boy, that one. It’s fun to watch, even for an old lady like me, who don’t know much about these things.
Now, they got all sorts of positions, like Defensive End. Sounds important, don’t it? They’re the ones tryin’ to stop the other team from gettin’ that ball. Lots of runnin’ and jumpin’, tryin’ to catch it. It’s a whole lot of commotion, I tell ya.
-
It’s not just about runnin’ and throwin’, though. It’s about workin’ together, like a team.
-
They gotta help each other out, block for each other, all that.
-
Just like when we used to have barn raisings. Everyone pitchin’ in to get the job done.
This Flex Football, it’s a good thing, I reckon. Keeps the kids out of trouble, teaches ’em somethin’. They learn how to work together, how to follow the rules, and how to be good sports. That’s important, you know. Even if you don’t win, you gotta be a good sport about it.
It’s a whole lot better than them just sittin’ around, playin’ them video games all day. This way, they’re outside, gettin’ some fresh air and exercise. Good for their bodies, good for their minds. They say it’s the most complete, non-tackle option. I don’t know about all that, but it seems alright to me. Less bruisin’, I suppose, and the kids, they sure do seem to enjoy it.
They say it’s good for the little ones, ages 6-8 and all, you know. My grandson started when he was around that age. Now look at him. Growing like a weed. Flex Football, they say it’s designed to introduce football at the youth level. So the young’uns get a taste of it early. They call it an innovative new game. Means it’s somethin’ new, somethin’ different. They say this Flex Football helps these lineman build their athleticism and minimize concussive contact. It sounds good.
So, that’s about all I know about this Flex Football. It’s a lot to take in, but the main thing is, the kids like it. And if they like it, and it keeps ’em safe, then I guess it’s alright by me. Just gotta keep an eye on ’em, make sure they don’t get too carried away. But they’re good kids. They’ll be alright. This Flex Football is just a game, you know, but it is very popular now. And it teaches them things. Important things. And that’s what matters, right?
