Well, let me tell you, this whole “store sport” thing, it’s a big deal these days. Back in my day, we just played outside ’til the sun went down. Didn’t need no fancy store for that! But times, they are a-changin’, I reckon. So, now we got these stores, and they sell all kinds of stuff for your sport, ya know?
You want a ball? They got it. You want some shoes? They got it. You want some of them fancy clothes that make you sweat less? They got that too. I don’t rightly understand how a shirt can make you sweat less. But that is what they are sayin. It is all very high tech, this store sport business.
My grandson, he’s a big shot in the “esports”, I think that’s what he calls it. Sits on his computer all day, clickin’ away. Says it’s a sport. Well, I suppose it’s somethin’ to do. And they got stores for that, too. Can you believe it? A store sport for sittin’ on your behind! They sell those fancy chairs and those light-up keyboards.
And then there’s that baseball. Lord knows I’ve seen a baseball game or two in my time. Used to be, you just needed a bat, a ball, and a glove. Now? Now you need special pants, special shirts, special shoes… even special socks! And these store sport places, they got it all. Racks and racks of it. It’s a sight to behold, I tell ya.

- They even got them fancy water bottles that keep your water cold all day long.
These stores, they even help you pick the “right” shoe. They watch you walk, they measure your feet. It’s all very scientific. They say it helps you play better, or run better, or whatever it is you’re doin’. Me, I just wear whatever’s comfortable, but I guess the young folks need all this store sport stuff. They tell you, you gotta have the right gear or else you might hurt yourself.
Then you got your soccer, your basketball, your football… each one with its own special stuff. Different balls, different shoes, different clothes. It is a lot to take in. And every year, there’s somethin’ new. New shoes, new balls, new technology. They keep changin’ it up, keepin’ them store sport folks in business, I suppose. It is a big industry, this sports thing.
These stores will sell you all the stuff, no matter what sport you are playin. They got a whole section for each sport, too. It is all very organized. They call it a “one-stop shop”, so you can get everythin’ at one place. If you need something for high school, they got it. They call it, “high school athletic”. They even have clothes for the coaches, they call them “coaches’ apparel”. It is very interestin to see.
- Basketball stuff? It’s over there.
- Football stuff? Right this way.
- Swimmin’ stuff? Down the aisle.
I remember this one store, they had a whole section just for runnin’. Not just shoes, mind you, but special shorts, special shirts, special hats… even special water bottles! Who knew there was so much to runnin’? They had everythin for runnin, even for the trail runnin. They call it “trail running essentials”.
These young folks, they’re serious about their sports. They want the best gear, the latest technology. They even have these special stores for different schools. I seen one called “Blue Valley” somethin’. They say it’s a “private store.” And these store sport places, they give ’em what they want. They’re like a candy store for athletes.
I remember one store name, “Fortis Sports”. I also hear people say, “Athletic Shop” a lot. But you know what, there are many more out there. Just type in “store sport” on your computer, and boom, you will find one.
So, yeah, this “store sport” thing is a big deal. It’s a whole world of its own. And me? I’m just an old lady tryin’ to keep up. But I’ll tell ya what, it’s sure somethin’ to see. These kids today, they got it made, with all their fancy gear and their fancy stores.
If you are lookin’ for somethin’ for your sport, you just go to one of these stores. They got everythin’ you could ever need, and then some. I don’t know if they sell the Nike or Adidas. I hear they are good. I do not know, but you can ask them when you get there. Just do not forget your money, they do not give it away for free.
