Okay, so I’ve been wanting to get back into some casual gaming, and I remembered how much fun those old-school volleyball games used to be. I figured, “Why not see what’s out there for the PS4?” So, that’s how this whole thing started.

First, I fired up my PS4 and headed straight to the PlayStation Store. I typed “volleyball” into the search bar and…well, the results were a little underwhelming, to be honest. Not a ton of options popped up.
I saw a few titles that looked…okay. Some were more arcade-style, others seemed to be aiming for a bit more realism. I ended up downloading a couple of demos, just to get a feel for them. One was super cartoony, with characters that had crazy special moves – fun for a bit, but not really what I was looking for.
The other demo was a bit more grounded. The graphics weren’t amazing, but the gameplay felt pretty solid. You had your basic moves: bump, set, spike, block. I spent a good hour just messing around with the controls, trying to get the timing down.
My Gaming Session
- Started with the tutorial. Always a good idea, even if you think you know what you’re doing.
- Tried a quick match against the AI. Got my butt kicked. Seriously, the AI was no joke.
- Adjusted the difficulty. Much better. I actually managed to win a few points!
- Explored the different game modes. There was a career mode, a tournament mode, and even a beach volleyball option!
- Messed around with my friends. We have lots fun.
After playing for a while, I realized I was actually having a pretty good time. It wasn’t the most visually stunning game I’d ever played, but it was scratching that volleyball itch I had. It’s the kind of game you can just pick up and play for a few minutes, or lose yourself in for a couple of hours.
I haven’t decided if I’m going to buy the full game yet, but I’m definitely leaning towards it. It’s a fun, simple way to unwind after a long day. And hey, who knows, maybe I’ll even get good enough to beat that tough AI eventually!
