Okay, so today I decided to get back on the court and play some volleyball. It’s been a while, honestly, but I used to play a lot, and I figured, why not give it another go?
First thing I did was dig out my old knee pads and volleyball shoes. Found them in the back of the closet, a little dusty but still in good shape. Put those on, and I already felt a bit more like a volleyball player.
Getting Started
Then, I headed down to the local park. There are usually some pickup games going on there, and I was hoping to join in. Sure enough, when I got there, there was a game in full swing. I watched for a few minutes, trying to get a feel for the level of play.
I was a little nervous, not gonna lie. It had been a while, and I didn’t want to embarrass myself. But everyone seemed pretty chill, so I walked over and asked if I could join the next game. They were super welcoming, and I was in!
The Game
- First few points, I was definitely rusty. My passes were a bit off, my sets weren’t perfect, and my hits… well, let’s just say they weren’t exactly going where I wanted them to.
- But you know what? It didn’t matter. I was having fun! I started to get my groove back, my passes got better, and I even managed to get a few good hits in.
- We played for a couple of hours, switching teams around a few times. I got a good workout, made some new friends, and just generally had a blast.
Afterwards
After the game, I was tired but happy. My muscles were a little sore, but it was a good kind of sore. I realized how much I missed playing, and I’m definitely going to try to play more often.
It wasn’t perfect. I messed many serves. But that good feeling of hitting the ball, and doing sports with friends, it’s so good!
So yeah, that was my day playing volleyball. Nothing fancy, just a good time getting back into something I used to love. Maybe I’ll do another update if I play again. We’ll see.
