Okay, so I have this 2012 Acadia Denali, and the rear entertainment system is kinda cool, but I wanted to use my own headphones. I noticed there were these jacks in the back, but I wasn’t sure how to get them working.

First thing I did was grab the owner’s manual, but honestly, it wasn’t super helpful. It mentioned the jacks, but it didn’t really explain how to activate them. So, I decided to just start messing around.
I turned on the rear entertainment system, and the screen was working fine. Then I plugged in my headphones into the jacks. Nothing. No sound at all. I fiddled with the volume on the main console and the rear controls, but still nothing.
Then I started pushing buttons. I figured maybe there was some hidden setting I needed to find. I poked around the menus on the main screen, and I found a setting for “Rear Aux”. I toggled that on, and boom! Suddenly I had sound in my headphones.
- Step 1: Turn on the rear entertainment system.
- Step 2: Plug in your headphones.
- Step 3: Go to the main screen’s settings.
- Step 4: Find and enable “Rear Aux”.
It was actually pretty easy once I found that setting. The sound quality is decent. It’s not amazing, but it gets the job done. Now the kids can watch their movies in the back, and I can listen to my music in the front without any fuss. We can be happy in our own little worlds. If you’re like me and a little slow on this kind of thing, hope this little write-up helps somebody out there!
A few extra notes
I also noticed there are separate volume controls for the left and right sides. Kind of a neat feature. Also, there’s a separate power button back there, so make sure that’s turned on, too. That might be why some people think it’s totally busted, I don’t know. Overall, not too shabby for a 2012. I love this thing.
